Castel Sant'Angelo - do I need to reserve tix?
Hello,
Do I need to reserve tickets in advance to see this castle? Or can I just arrive there and buy tickets? Does anyone know how many euros it is?
Thanks for your help.

We went 2 years ago when in Rome. It is a big place that could effectively handle a lot of people. As I remember there was a line going into the castle, but no line for reservations. I don’t think it cost anything to enter.

We were able to walk in without waiting in line, but it was several years ago. I think Rome is becoming more and more crowded.
There is a snack bar type place on the top. We had some wine and potato chips, which we shared with a pigeon (not our wine), while enjoying the great view of the City. There are bathrooms there too and I don't remember waiting in line, but again the crowds seem to be growing each year.
We enjoyed our visit and thought it was very interesting.

Hi iloveitaly,
Gosh, I realize I left out all important details in my trip report and just blathered on about cute waiters.
Last week Rome was crowded, but we experienced no line at the Castel Sant'Angelo. We were there on a Sunday afternoon. Also, if you're interested in the audioguide, you rent them in the bookstore.
Again, have fun!

It's 4 euros with the stipulation that you can only keep them 2 hours. Enough time, IMO.
Some of the rooms on the map they give are/were closed, however. It gets a little confusing, but it's fun.
Sounds like you have a packed itinerary. Is this a Rome-only jaunt?

4 euros? That's a great deal!
My mom and I are spending 5 days in Rome and then heading to Calabria for 4 weeks (visiting family). I hope to visit Sicily too (nothing planned though).
I am trying to get in as many things as possible - I think this will be my last trip for awhile unfortunately, but nonetheless I am still excited.
