I want to rent a car in France and the UK next spring. How has your experience been with Orbitz?

We've used novarentacar.com and autoeurope.com and been very happy with both.

For prices you need to compare. Autoeurope is a standard. I've used CRX with success (http://www.carrentalexpress.com/inte...tal-europe.htm) and I have been intrigued by http://www.holidayautos.co.uk/. All of them are brokers like Orbitz.

You need to decide whether you want to prepay your car in US Dollars or pay at the time of rental in local currency.

With autoeurope.com, you can prepay in US$ but are able to cancel your rez anytime without penalty so if rates go up because of currency fluctuations, you are locked in with Dollars. However, if rates go down, you can cancel and rebook at the lower rate.

There may be other rental companies that do this, but I'm not that Orbitz does.
