Car Rental Itinerary Changes

I am trying to figure out whether it will be possible to leave some flexibility in our early November driving itinerary. I plan on renting a car for a week, starting from the Naples airport, but we might want to pick the car up a day or two early, depending on the weather and some other factors. Has anyone had any experience with adding a day or two to a rental that was arranged in advance?

I recommend your contacting Autoeurope or Kemwell as these companies, which are rental brokers, offer great flexibility with regards to rental car pickups and drop offs. Keep in mind that even if you make a change with Autoeurope, it is generally your responsibility to confirm the change with the local rental office to assure car availability.

It's easier to ad on to the end - just let them know you're keeping the car. If you don't change the beginning f your reservation you're likely to get there and find no car - or have to pay the walk up rate.

That's what I was afraid of. Unfortunately, its the start day that I would prefer to leave flexible. I guess I better just make a decision and stick with it.

If you are going to be in Italy and Naples before your rental begins, which is what your original question suggests, why pick up the car at the airport if such a pick up incurs an extra fee (it does in France)?

Other posters have confirmed that leaving Naples is easy if you pick up at the airport location - you don't have to drive through Naples which apparently should be avoided. In addition, we will be picking up on a Sunday, Nov. 1, also a holiday, and very few locations are open. Finally, the cost doesn't seem much different through Kemwell, than picking up elsewhere on another day - but I will check it again.
