If you look at equivalent trains on www.voyages-sncf.com, you will find that the 33€ pp price is TGV PREM discount non-changeable ticket while the return trip (which assume is an afternoon train) is TGV LOISIR semi-changeable ticket.

Prices vary based on day of week, time of day, class of service, how far in advance you buy the tickets, if the are non-refundable or refundable, class of seat ( 1st or 2 nod class) and if they are Prems, which are specially priced.
So, if that is the price you found for each day's tickets - any and all of the above are likely the reason.
I may be wrong, those more in the know correct me if I am, but the tickets aren't likely to get cheaper. There may be some reduction at the very last minutes.

I found less expensive tickets for Sunday, the 20th. Look at a different times to depart. There were a couple of trains, so it could be just the specific time you picked out. Unless you MUST arrive in Paris at a particular time, just pick a different one.
It also depends on type of train, TGV (fast) train vs. TER (regional, slower, more stops).

And use www.capitainetrain.com - it's much easier to use than en.voyages-sncf.com with no Machivallian redirects to Rail Europe. It has the same prices.

I want to thank everyone for your response. I just booked and paid since we don't have a choice. Our day trip ends 6:30 pm so I have to take an 8 pm train back to Paris. I paid 179 euros for 2 round-trip tickets which is 201.00 dollars. I think the price is fine. Thank you all and have a nice day.
