The place I stay is in-between Pernes-les-Fontaines and Carpentras so I usually end up there are few times during my stay, and go through it when getting to/from Avignon. It isn't particular attractive, no; it does have an interesting Jewish section history. http://www.carpentras-ventoux.com/en...unity.cfm?p=14
I don't drive there the way Stu recommends to Carpentras from Avignon and don't pay any tolls. I just drive the D942 the entire way from Avignon, it's the road that runs along the river just outside Avignon and then goes right to Carpentras, it's a pretty easy drive and a good road. The N100 goes right from Remoulins (which is right near the Pont due Gard) east and runs into D942. I just don't see the point of taking those big toll routes or going up to Orange.
