Can I leave luggage at Siena Train Station?

We were going to do a day trip to Siena from Florence. Now I'm thinking we will visit Siena on our way from Rome to Florence via train. Is it posssible to leave our luggage at the Siena train station and then tour Siena? Are there lockers or a storage area at the train station? Same question for the San Gimignano train station... any info would be appreciated.

Yes, there are left luggage facilities at Siena. I got information from the pisa airport website.

Link below, you need to select the Left Luggage link:

Hi Jeremy,

Have you looked at the train schedules? The train from Rome doesn't stop at Siena.

You have to get off at Chiusi to get to Siena - about 3 hr from Rome.

Thanks all. I did know about the train switch in Chiusi, and then would be training from Siena to San Gimignano (20 min). I realized there was no train from Rome to S.G. How long is the drive from Rome to Siena?

Though most Italian station have manual left-luggage facilities, you can't count on these being opened, even if they are listed as being available. Recently in Pisa Centrale, a main station I could find no baggage depot open and i looked and asked, even though there was a shuttered window marked so. And if there is, be sure to ask about opening times,it may shut for a siesta break. I've left things in these places only to return shortly before my train to find, in Rome, absurdly long lines to retrieve stuff, and, in smaller stations, simply no one there for interminable amounts of time even though it was open. In Italy sometimes things move at a slow pace, part of the reason we love it so much, but at times frustrating to the travel who has a train to catch in a few minutes - leave plenty of time to retrieve luggage. Luggage storage is also expensive, a few bucks per bag often for a short time period.

Hi Jeremy,

Are you also aware that the train doesn't stop in San Gim. It stops at Poggibonsi, about 15 km away.

I am doing the opposite, going from Sienna to Rome,on a Sunday. When I checked trenitalia I understood it to take about 3 hours including the Change in Chiusi. Am I right or reading the schedules wrong? Thanks in advance

There are buses from Roma Tiburtina train station to Siena city center several times a day (6:30, 8, 10:30, 12:30, 14, 15:30, 18:30 and 20). 3 hours. €16.50 (+ €3 if you buy the ticket on the bus). www.sena.it
