Piccolina-
Loved Biarritz for the day today. Took the train in and took the bus back. Both were great. Had moules and frites at the Tandem cafe on the water. Excellent service and delicious.
Leaving tomorrow for 5 days in Sevilla, then 3 nights in Tarifa, then Nerja, and Ronda.

piccolina, you should check out a tripadvisor post by a local Malaguenan on his favorite restaurants: http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic....html#67289097

<favorite restaurant/tapas places in Malaga? - Would love to try some local places where locals eat>
Strongly recommend the two-three tapas bars in the Atarazanas food market. Had a fabulous lunch in two of them on Saturday (Cafe Bar Atarazanas and El Yerno), conchas finas, oysters, razor clams, prawn skewers etc. etc, much fish and seafood, but also great vegetable and meat tapas. Full of groups of friends and families, loud, crowded, but still very laid-back and the people running the bars are in full control. And Saturday lunch is more crowded than usual and a very special experience, the best atmosphere and many GTs around...

Cafe Bar Atarazanas: http://azahar-spain.com/azahartapas/...do-atarazanas/
El Yerno: http://azahar-spain.com/azahartapas/el-yerno/
For the best steaks, lamb etc., go to El Botijo a 7-8€ taxi ride from the heart of town. Had the lamb leg of my life here on Friday, and the solomillo with the house mushroom sauce was also spot on. Genuine place with no molecular gastronomy pretensions, and not many tourists find their way out here. http://www.tripadvisor.es/Restaurant...Andalucia.html

And plain fabulous jamón ibérico in hole in the wall Azahar in Calle Comedias, close to the Carmen Thyssen museum. They serve the top quality jamón de Guijuelo, and they know how to cut it. The six of us had some five plates long into the night on Saturday/Sunday. Some 10€ for a small plate and worth every penny: http://www.guiatapear.com/tapas-mala...-mas-que-tapas

Kimhe and others - any suggestions on breakfast spots in Malaga? We usually don't prefer hotel breakfasts and would much rather try some local places. I've been to cafe central on my last trip and had churro with hot chocolate for breakfast!

Kimhe and others - do you have any suggestions on breakFast spots in Malaga? We usually don't prefer hotel breakfasts and would much rather try some local haunts. I ate at cafe central on my last trip and at a cafe with outdoor tables right next to one of the churches - can't wait to have Spanish orange juice again! And churros and cafe con leche...

For breakfast, churros, chocolate, cafe con leche etc. there are few, if any, better place in all of Spain than Casa Aranda next door to the Atarazanas food market. An institution in town. Perhaps "climb" into one of the small street level cabins and let the magic begin... http://www.casa-aranda.net/

And don't expect too much of Azahar, a very basic place with notoriously stressed waiters. But the terrace and the small plaza is very nice, they serve perfectly fine and affordable tapas, media raciones/raciones, and the Jamón de Guijuelo is sensational. Just hope the guy who cuts the ham is in when you come here ;-)

Heading up from Malaga to Granada - would you suggest I go through Alhama de Granada or to Almunecar and the up to Granada taking the A-44 the E902?
And now we are heading out to Azahar for Jamon! Will report back.
