Calais Ferry Terminal & Train Station
I am interested to know how close is the train station at Calais to the ferry terminal. We have tickets to board the Eurostar to Paris and have been wondering if we will have to take a taxi or is it walkable?

You don't want Calais railway station.
The Eurostar leaves from Calais-Frethun station, which is several miles south of central Calais, at the tunnel entrance (the boat terminal's now a bit north of the centre). You certainly need a taxi: I honestly don't know how easy taxis are to get at the boat terminal these days, not having been a foot passenger in decades. If no-one comes on and tells you there is a taxi rank, post a separate question.
You MIGHT have to get a bus into town, then hail a taxi from there. Or I might be blathering.

O my goodness! I think we are going to start off early on this route as our Eurostar reservation is on the 5.30pm to Paris.
I did intially ask the question on this board, if it wwere possible to pick up the Eurostar in Dover, to which the answer was in the negative.
Since then I have read Hausfrau's Trip Report and in it she and family took the Eurostar from Dover.
Too late - I booked from Calais but may do a wander down to St.Pancrass when we arrive in London on Wednesday and see if we are able to alter things.
Thanks for your answer flanneruk.

According to our copy of Lonely Planet, buses from the ferry terminal into town go every hour (it's about ten minutes' journey to Calais-Ville railway station - , only about a mile walk). From Calais-Ville, it ought to be easy to get a taxi (again, 10-15 mins journey), though some claim there's a bus too.
