These are some other things to do:

1. a visit to the Alcázar de los Reyes Cristianos: the gardens are beautiful

2. a visit to the Palacio de Viana. There are 2 tours sold: a guided tour (in Spanish) of the interior; and a self-guided tour of the patios. If you do not have time for both, see the patios. They are beautiful and well worth the visit.

3. walking around the older parts of town
I'd vote for Cadiz. The Mezquita in Cordoba is great and it's interesting to walk around the area, but we also encountered some very annoying and pushy beggars there and if you've seen Seville, the rest of Cordoba isn't that different (IMO). Cadiz is more of a normal, non-touristy city and is a pleasure to walk around!

In my opinion, Cordoba's mezquita alone merits a trip, and you can spend a pleasant day there meandering through the streets, as well as seeing the other sites mentioned above. Cadiz is a lovely little town, with gorgeous beaches, but if given the choice, I'd definitely choose Cordoba.
