Cab or shuttle from CDG to central Paris?

Will cabs at CDG take four adults and luggage into central Paris? We will be arriving 7:30 p.m. July 14th (Bastille Day)so I know traffic will be a problem. If a cab is cheaper and easier then I won't reserve a shuttle. Does anyone out there have advice? Thanks.

Yes a cab will take 4 adults into Paris. Just look for a mini van so there will be plenty of room. There is a fee for the fourth person of 2.70 euros. Traffic is going to be a serious problem and some roads will be closed around Bastille and the Eiffel tower. You may be better off catching the RER depending on the location of the hotel. A cab would be cheaper than a shuttle if you didnt have to worry about traffic but who knows how much it will cost on Bastille Day. As it is a holiday the highest taxi fare rate will apply.

Hi j,

A shuttle will be about 75E. A cab will be about 50E plus whatever is added to the meter due to traffic.

If you get a cab, you could save 20E or lose 10E.

We're staying in the 1st Arr at the Mayfair so the traffic could be a problem. It seems the shuttle is the best choice. I'll try to find out from the hotel about the roads open, closed or otherwise clogged. Thanks all for the info.

The traffic will be just as bad whether you take a taxi or a shuttle, and with a shuttle shared with other passengers you could wind up with the drive being considerably longer than in a taxi.

You have the ground transportation pretty choices pretty well defined in the posts above.

But just for the sake of completeness: did you know you can sneak in under the traffic jams and crowds? Did you know there's a train that will get you within a half-block of the Mayfair?

Take the RER B to Châtelet-Les Halles, then Métro Ligne 1 to Concorde. Elapsed time: 51 minutes. Cost: €7.85

Actually, the reason I only asked about a cab or the shuttle is because one "luxury" I'm glad to pay for is easy transportation after a long flight. Lugging baggage on public transportation after a flight from the west coast just isn't something my mid-fifties sensibilities can handle. So, considering the holiday traffic a shuttle will probably be our best bet. It's a flat fee no matter how long it takes. Besides, if we do have to drive around a bit, all the better - it will just one more way to see the city. Thanks for helping me make up my mind.
