Buying gluten-free food in Italy

Any coeliacs out there who have experience of this? Do you take your own bread/crackers or is it easy to buy supplies? I'm O.K. with retaurants, but like some bread or similar for breakfast in hotel. Thanks!

Yes, gluten-free crackers etc. are available. You might contct the manufacturer to find out where they're sold, might be more of a health-food or pharmacy item rather than grocery stores:

http://www.nutricia.it/nhc/asp/show_...bgcl=%23bcb8d4

Betty--I found your question very interesting, since my husband was just diagnosed last month with celiac disease. Maybe the place to ask the question would be on a forum for people who have this condition. Obviously, pasta, bread, and pastries are out, unless you can find special foods. My husband's dietician advised him to travel with a supply of crackers, etc, from home. Please e-mail me if you find a good source of info about travel and gluten-free diets. Good luck, Barb
