Bus: Naples(where?)>Pompei

Bus: Naples(where?)>Pompei
I want to take the SITA bus from Naples to Pompei Scavi. But where does the SITA bus leave from in Naples? On the online schedules I've seen BOTH Via Depretis AND Porto Immacolatella. Are they the same thing? If not the same then which is right?

Hi S,

I can't help with the bus schedules, but is there some reason you don't want to take the Circumvesuviana? The train goes right from the Naples main station to Pompeii Scavi.

Hi ss,

The SITA bus makes more than one stop in Naples.

They are both right.

Where did you find the route?

Dayle: I'm told (?) that the SITA bus station is closer to the cruise ship port and (sometimes) a few minutes shorter. But what do I know?

Ira: I found some schedules at:

http://www.sita-on-line.it/CampaniaTPL.html

and by downloading the pdf file named:
Quadro 8: SALERNO - NOCERA - POMPEI - NAPOLI(bis).

I also found schedules at:

http://www.summerinitaly.com/plannin...eii_naples.htm

There are some clear errors in the second site, but there are also some (!) similarities between the two sets of schedules.

Ira: If there are indeed two different two departure points for SITA buses, then do you know which one is closest to the cruise ship port?

Thanks - Jon

Hi Jon,

I found your route.

Your bus leaves from Porto Immacolatella. However, I can't find it at 3 different map sites and it is not on my Streetwise Guide.

AHA! On the off chance that the bus from Salero to Napoli (via Pompeii) arrives at the same place as the bus from Napoli to Salerno leaves, I looked up Via Depretis.

I was wrong. The arrival stop is a couple of blocks away from the departure stop. Probably because Italians won't stand in line.

At www.mappy.com enter Via Depretis. Adjust zoom to "district". Molo Immacolatella is where the cruise ships dock.
