Burford Lodgings

Everyone was very helpful on my last question about getting to Evesham from London.
I now have my transportation figured out. I believe I will be taking The Heathrow coach from Heathrow to Reading and then taking the train from Reading to Evesham.
There we pick up a rental car and have 6 nights in the area.
The last 3 nights will be in Evesham and we have the accomadations but I want a place to stay for the first 3 nights while touring around the area.
I think I would like to stay in Burford.
I have been looking at lodgings and see a place called The Cotswold Gateway Hotel
but cannot find any talk of this place here on Fodors. Anyone know of it or have stayed there.
Thanks.

There are 3 reviews on tripadvisor, see http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserR...d.html#REVIEWS

Sounds like a roadside motel to me.

Ron,
thank you for that link.
They are not very good reviews, are they?
I guess I am back to trying to find lodging in Burford.
Cotland House seems to have good reviews over at Trip Advisor. Anyone here been there.

We stayed at the LAMBS INN years ago and it was great. Check it out.

Traveldawg,
Thanks for the recommendation. I looked it up but much too pricey for me. Sure looks nice though.

I love, love Burford!! We stayed there for a week in a lovely self-catering cottage overlooking a millstream. However, during our walks I've seen the previously recommended Lamb Inn and the Cotland House. You might try the latter.

Sorry, I have no knowledge of the Cotswold Gateway Hotel. But looking at the website, it looks very charming. It seems to be located at the entrance of Burford coming from A40.

Why not stay in a B&B? For a real English travel experience. Web sites I use are www.smoothhound.co.uk, www.theaa.com, and www.sawdays.co.uk. Another option is to move your base. Maybe Woodstock?

I'll be interested to hear about your visit to Evesham. It sounds a pretty area.

JoyC,
Would you mind sharing what cottage you rented.
We would only be 3 nights but sometimes they rent cottages for this amount of time if they are not busy.
Just to have a back up plan in case we need a longer stay.
Thanks
