Bullfight tickets in Madrid

When we are in Spain this summer we want to go see a bullfight in Madrid. I was planning to buy my tickets on bullfightticketsmadrid.com but I have waited and waited for tickets to go on sale for my chosen date (which happens to be a Novillada) and they still aren't available. (Anyone know why??) The website sponsored by TEYCI (tickettoros.com) seems to have tickets available although you can't buy specific seats...only specific rows/areas. Has anyone bought through ticket toros and were you happy with their services? I assume if you buy 2 tickets they would give you 2 together, right? I just can't decide what to do. I don't want to wait until I get there although I know I could and probably get cheaper tickets. Any suggestions/experiences would be appreciated.

I just checked bullfightticketsmadrid.com and www.ticketstoros.com and had no problem seeing which seats are available on those dates. Actually, there are very few remaining on the 8th when Diego Urdiales, Juan Bautista, David Mora will be fighting. But it's the same during this entire time period as it has to do with the festival of San Isidro.

I'm wanting to go on July 7. Everytime I go to ticketstoro.com, it just gives me a form to fill out w/ row choice but no seat choices.

If you are staying at a good hotel you might want to have your concierge arrange it. I have had very good luck with this.

Also, the preachers are likely to show up any moment and call you all sorts of names for wanting to take in a bullfight.

So you get in first with the name-calling.

Bullfights are horrible spectacles!

I have been to the bullfights in Barcelona where the matador was on horseback.

I went with a group of Hispanics from California. These people were all enthusiastic at the beginning of the bullfight because they thought they were witnessing their heritage.

All were shocked and saddened at the end. My good friend Christina was in tears.

If you feel that you must attend, at least get seats in the shade.

OH we are going! I am a Spanish teacher and have taught about bullfighting for years. I would NEVER miss the opportunity to see one live.

holavick, the bullfights in Madrid on Sunday, 7 July, will be the "Corrida de novillos" because the Feria del Toro, the festival of the bull, is taking place in Pamplona from the 6th through the 14th. The cartel has not yet been announced.

Bullfight tickets are typically sold by section; SOMBRA, SOL Y SOMBRA and SOL, and by row; BARRERAS, CONTRABARRERAS, DELANTERAS BAJAS, ROW 1, etc. If you're on the website, you will see how many seats are available for each section and row. Everything not show are held by the season ticket holders.

Death to bullfighting - death in the afternoon!

Apparently you don't have to wait that long!

What a rationale! Perhaps it is a good thing that you are not a history teacher. Spanish Inquisition, anyone?

You wouldn't think this was a travel help forum, not with all the self-righteous among us trumpeting their biases.

The Veranos de la Villa (Summer in the city) festival goes on in Madrid when you're there. Top artists almost every night through all of July. Close to your bullfight date, I can recommend superb flamenco singer Diego El Cigala on the 3rd and up and coming Silvia Perez Cruz on the 13th.

Robert: It is always the same tired old people moaning on about the same thing.

No one seems to be listening to them.

I don't really appreciate the activists on a travel site. Go away. Thanks though to you have made helpful suggestions to my inquiry.

No one appreciates them, holavick. We travel for myriad reasons, including insight into different cultures. The activists are just pests - and they don't ever sway anyone's opinions.
