so 60 euro/night (might as well start thinking in euro instead of USD)

You can read about Hotel Tiquetonne here and on TripAdvisor. Your budget would work there. If interested, better book now, though.

What are your exact dates? Look at LateRooms.com - they have some places that might work.

Hi H,

The Picpus has been recommended by another poster.

we stayed at Hotel International (Republic District) in January, double room with bathroom for 52 euro per night. It was pretty basic but friendly staff, very close to a metro station and a small supermarket. We found this one on venere.

I really enjoyed the Hotel de la Porte Doree', which is a budget hotel. It's outside the main area, but not far by metro - and has a wonderful park, aquarium, etc. close by.

Check out the studios at www.frenchyrentals.com
This is a great company to work with - studios are €400 a week or €700 a week for two studios (if you are going with another couple).

I stayed at the Cosmos Hotel last May and really liked it. Very basic, but clean and the staff was wonderful. The area very nice and just a couple of blocks to the metro.

And www.VacationInParis.com has a couple of studios in the Marais for $99 a night (7 night minimum). Not $80 as you asked, but having an apartment allows you to save a lot of money on meals.

We stay at the Etap Hotel at Port de Vincennes 54E per night. Not much for atmosphere, but that's not what we're looking for in a hotel. Convenient to the #1 metro line so we can easily get anywhere we want. www.etap.com

Another hotel that was once recommended on this forum is the Printemps, very close to the Picpus, in a lovely location in the 12th arrondissement. I would gladly book it for myself.
