Budget Hotel in good location in Nice-Help Please
Two couples are looking for a reasonably priced hotel in Nice for October 16/17. We really just want a clean room with our own bathroom in a location that is convenient for sightseeing. Any help appreciated.

Hi,
This past summer we stayed at the Hotel Windsor. It is a wonderful hotel, with a lovely garden and pool. You can walk to the beach and you are always close to shopping and eating. The price was 100 euros without breakfast. You will not be disappointed. I do not know the web site. Do a google search.

We stayed at the budget priced Flots d'Azur which is on the main road that runs along the beach. We had a partial seaview and our own (tiny) bathroom. Breakfast was extra. It was about 20-30 min stroll along the seafront into the centre of town. There was parking available. Hope this helps.

We stayed in the Confort Roosevelt Hotel in Nice, it was comfortable and clean, very easy walking to the pedestrian area and easy walking to the beach, about 400m from memory. We paid 100€ per night for a double. Small room but perfectly adequate. No restaurant but plenty of restaurants nearby. There was a breakfast room with the standard continental breakfast foods, I can't remember if that was included in the price or not.

The reviews of the Windsor more than do it justice. We stayed there and while it did have a pleasant garden and the rooms did have some rather "artsy" decor, including some handpainting on the walls, we weren't too thrilled with housekeeping and upkeep. We had to call maintenance every time we wanted the toilet to flush or else to stop it from running. There was a lot of rust and old crud in the shower and the sink. There was a little swinging door that actually fell off and maintenance took away for "repair". The place was not very clean, and when we returned the one day in the evening, our room had never been made up. They promised us parking and we had it in a little carport area behind the hotel, but they had other people park in front of us and when we tried to leave it took a couple hours to find the people to move their car so we could get out. I personally wouldn't stay there again.
