Budapest--Hotel Victoria vs. Hotel Pest or really Buda vs. Pest!!
We'll be in Budapest in late October and I've pretty much narrowed the hotel selection to either the Victoria or the Pest. I like the Victoria because of the great views of the Danube and Pest and the good reviews it gets both here and on Trip Advisor. But I am concerned about restaurants for dinner. The Hotel Pest seems to be pretty much in a good location near Andrassy and I assume has a decent selection of restaurants.
We'll be in Budapest for three nights so would like to know that there would be at least a little variety near where we stay. We will also frequently go for a beer or a glass of wine after dinner so some place that offers that is also good. And lastly, we prefer to be able to walk to dinner rather than having to take a bus or metro.
Sooooooooooo can Hotel Victoria give me what I want or would I be better off at the Hotel Pest?? Or other options? Many thanks

we stayed at the marriot exec. apartments and loved it and the location.
i like the view of buda from pest more than the contrary.
we had a drink in the evenings on the "spoon café" floating bar/restaurant moored on the pest side. it was a fabulous sight with the chain bridge, etc.
our apt. was a very good deal, and very well appointed. free breakfast. would go back to everywhere we went in the whole city!

In my opinion, if I sense your priorities correctly, I'd stay on the Pest side, as it's handier to a variety of afternoon and evening relaxation sites (such as Liszt Ter, Andrassi Ut, etc.).
Perhaps gazing at Castle Hill or Parliament from your room is more important, but we found ample gazing locations just walking along both banks of the river...one can only gaze so much, you know. Then you want to do "something", and most of the somethings" in the evening are in Pest

I stayed at the Hotel Victoria 1 year ago..primarily for the views over the Danube. Every morning the fog was so thick..I could not see a thing!! But I did like the hotel..clean and with nice staff. We walked everywhere...but we walk alot. It is a fairly long walk to the Pest side...across the Charles Bridge.. but you can walk up to the castle area and dine there.

This past late October/early Novemeber we were in Budapest twice, once at the beginning of the trip (3 days) and again at the end (2).
We stayed at the Taverna hotel on the Pest side on the Vaci Utca at the start and Hotel Victoria at the end. On the hotel itself, we liked the Victoria better. It's just a friendlier, more relaxes place and the rooms were nicer. We were in room 93 at the very top, with a balcony and the views or parliament were tremendous. And honestly, the walks across the Chain Bridge were not that bad, but if you were tired, I could see that being a bit of a pain.
We really did enjoy being on the Pest side though for street ambling. Taverna was ok, but the rooms small and basic. But we loved the location, even though there was no view. I tend to like a view for the first half hour or so and then I'm either off to sleep or heading back out on the town. So, of course, we're all different. But it was nice popping right out the front door and into the action, but it wasn't noisy on the Vaci Utca, nor would it be, I wouldn't imagine, on the pest side river banks.

Stayed at the Taverna last March and you can not beat the location though Clifton is right. No view at all but within walking distance of just abour everything.Great breakfast included in price.
Basic room and friendly staff.
Duo restaurant is pratically across the street and very good. Gerbaud's is approx. three blocks for great pastry.
I would definetly stay there again.
