The British Grand Prix is held at Silverstone. Which is in Silverstone Village near Northampton.
Next year the race is being held on July 20th.
If you can take it, it is fun to camp! as the traffic gets pretty bad around the circuit on race day and the local hotels in the area seen to get booked from 1 year to the next
This might give you more idea
http://www.octagonmotorsports.com/

"the traffic gets pretty bad around the circuit on race day" is a definite understatement. In the last few years thousands have spent the day stuck in traffic miles from the course and missed the entire race.

years ago you could just show up at Silverstone and easily get paddock passes. But now you must plan far ahead and if you are staying in the area booking now would not be too soon. if you are traveling in from elsewhere plan on being at the track before dawn.

The good news however is that the main A43 road linking Silverstone with the M40 motorway has just been upgraded to dual carriageway (ie 2 lanes each way), and re-opened in the past few weeks. I drove along it Sunday night and it's a huge improvement. It probably won't eliminate the jams at Grand Prix, but it will certainly help.
