Roby got on his pedastal again. I can't tell you how many times he goes on about this topic.
Why in the world he would hijack a Breakfast in Paris thread to beat the old dead horse again is beyond me.
Starting a new thread to discuss the topic is not enough.
Perhaps the following will help -
The only "right" way for "intelligent" people to travel from CDG to Paris is via the RER. Any of the rest of us that choose to use any other form of transportation are stupid, unadventerous, cautious folks avoiding a challenging situation.
There. Does that help? If so, can we please stop beating this dead horse?
PS - I don't agree at all with my above statement - I'm just trying to get Roby to drop the subject.

A few days ago, a poster stated that if someone opted for a taxi from CDG it indicated that they weren't "adventerous" enough to use the RER.</b>
Let's be clear about who brought up the RER in a breakfast thread, okay?

Good point, Roby. Of course, that was in March. Sorry I didn't remember doing that. As I reread this thread, I am reminded that I was referring to the comment someone made stating that if a person chose to eat an American breakfast in Paris it was because of "comfort level". I found that to be as equally absurd as to your comments regarding the choice not to use the RER.
On 5/13 and 5/15 you continue to argue your point on this Breakfast thread (started and previously ended in March).
Is it coincidental that at the same time, you STARTED a thread about the very same topic?
Fodorites have given varied points of view. Isn't it grand that we don't have to agree and we can get to Paris from CDG any which way we want to?
Can we just agree to disagree?
Better yet, it would be great if you would refrain from making generalizations. People have been quite clear as to why they choose what they choose.
The best news is...the decision on how to get in and out of Paris from CDG is just a fraction of the total trip experience. I'm sure even the bikers enjoyed their vacation after their 8 hour ordeal into the city.

Yes, by starting a new thread I had hoped to put an end to the dialog here. But others (not I) couldn't leave it alone.
You can signify your willingness to drop the subject by not answering this post.

In the fine words of Intrepid1 on this thread back in March
-
Some day, if not already, somebody will write a book entitled "How People Use Anonymous Message Boards to Boost their Poor Self-Esteem Level" and I am certain that little group of "Fodorite regulars" who love to dictate to others about how they should travel will be listed in Chapter One.
Have a great time in Paris, Ssbnorman and remember...while the so-called "experts" are playing with themselves and their keyboards, YOU will BE in Paris.

On our last visit to paris we stayed in an apartment and ate the same types of breakkgfast foods we ususally eat at home. Someone mentioned the coffee. I'm in the habit of drinking coffee first thing in the morning while I'm doing my hair and make-up. I have tried in vain to enjoy the expresso coffee the french drink.I really don't like it. It was nice to make my own coffee each morning. We go to BIA for coffee if we are staying in a hotel. We usually eat there at least once a week. I'd like to try their burgers and fries next time we go.
We come from CA so it is a very long trip. I cannot even think straight when we finally get to Paris so I always book a shuttle service on line.
I've seen people trying to get through those turnstyles in the metro stations with luggage and I will not be doing that anytime soon. If I only had one piece of luggage I might be tempted, not because of the money, but because I've heard it is much quicker. I'm a hopeless overpacker who cannot leave home without my pillow and my fan so I doubt I will ever be taking the RER and metro to my Paris destination. After all this is a vacation not a marathon.
