Gosh Bob, surprised you remembered my family hails from Roscommon!!
Yes, we are going to see my mom for a few days but then we are joining a CIE Tour for Tour Leaders!! My dh and I are sponsoring our own CIE tour in September and CIE has a tour each year to promote Ireland. Our tour in September will be a custom tour (that I designed) and we're inviting friends and family, etc. on it.
Normally, we're not tour people...esp. for Ireland where we just hop in the car and go...we stay at B&B's or guesthouses. But, to get a big group together a tour is the way to go...so far we have 19 people. We've gone to Ireland with 10 before and rented 2 cars.
This tour starts in Killiney near Dublin, then goes to Donegal, Galway and last 2 nights in Clare. We'll be visiting lots of different places along the way.
We'll be seeing some familiar places but there are new places too so we are excited about that!!
I will give your regards to the folks in Roscommon!!

Thanks Siobhan! Well, we just decided to book into a B&B near the airport (Lazie Acres...next to a small golf course). So, we won't be having breakfast in Dalkey afterall. We'll be meeting a tour group (I have another post asking about the Lazie Acres and it explains our trip) at Killiney Castle Hotel later in the morning and we hope to get down to Dalkey on a little walk in the afternoon.
Dalkey is another little town I have not been to yet in 10 trips to Ireland!!
There is so much to see and do!
We leave CA on Wed....can't wait!!
This trip Killiney, Donegal (Sand House Hotel), Galway (Glenlo Abbey Hotel) and Bunratty (Bunratty Castle Hotel which I believe has undergone a renovation?).
We'll be walking Derry, Donegal, Dingle
Galway and Dublin....seeing lots of sights along the way and in those towns....lots of which are new to me (Belleek factory, etc.).
Thanks again,
Shadow

Dalkey is great - I grew up there. It has changed a lot and is now part of one of the most expensive areas of Dublin. Being close to Kiliney it is not unusual to rub shoulders with the famous, although its more likely that you will bump into Bono (he lives on Kiliney Hill)in the evening rather than over breakfast! However, there are some great places where you might just get a nice breakfast, and if not then a great lunch. Try Finnegans, The Club or McDonaghs. Eidelwise is a cafe on Patrick's Street which definitely will serve breakfast! Of course if you are staying at Fitzpatricks Castle Hotel in Kiliney then the breakfast there is great - the walk down the hill to Dalkey will burn off the calories and set you up nicely for coffee! Dalkey also has a DART station which will see you into downtown Dublin in 30 minutes. Say "Hi" to Seamus in the club! have fun.
