Bolzano- Castelrotto
Can anyone suggest a hotel in either of these areas that would be accessible by train?
As I stated in another post- we will be in Venice Mon thru Thurs and picking up our rental car and heading to our agriturismo in the Lake Garda area.
I think we may leave Fri instead of our planned Sun so we would have two days to explore another area of Northern Italy. I am hoping to find somewhere that is easy to reach by train.
Thanks for any help and again for all your suggestions!!

Can't redommend a specific place. In Kastelruth, don't look for a hotel, but a pension, zimmer frei. Ther're everywhere and usually better than any! hotel. In Bozen, you might need a hotel, if you don't have a car to find a place in the surrounding villages. Ask the local Fremdenverkehrsamt.

Vino - Castelrotto is not on a train line (- the nearest stations are Ponte Gardena and Bolzano).
But it's a lovely place to stay and is accessible by bus. I highly recommend Hotel Zum Wolf:

Hope this helps ...

Vino,
Ditto to Steve James's reply. We stayed at the Hotel Zum Wolf this past summer, at the reccommendations from this board. The bus stop is behind the hotel. Charming town. While there try to visit the Alpe di Suis. Very easy by bus.

We took the train to Bolzano from Verona last August. Then we picked up a local bus to Castelrotto.
It worked out really well for us. It was very simple to do - I think there were buses every few hours from Bolzano to Castelrotto.
We stayed in Castelrotto at a hotel whose name is eluding me right now. Perhaps it was Zum Turm. Whatever it was it was great - I can look it up if you are interested. We enjoyed the wine bar at Schgaguler - http://www.schgaguler.com/. They have a hotel as well although we didn't see it. We ate at Zum Wolf and the food was great. I don't think you can go too wrong accomodation wise - it's a small place.
I can say enough how much we loved visiting Castelrotto! It is so easy to get to with public transport and the Alpi di Suisi are such a joy for hiking.
If you do decide to do this, Rick Steves Italy has a very good section on this area - with public transport clearly layed out.
Have a great trip!

If we get our car somewhere around Venice and drive through the Dolomites- leaving from Venice Thurs and arrive at our agriturismo in Lake Garda on Sat. Where should we stop the first night? And the second night?
Maybe Cortina the first night and Castelrotto the second night?
How long would our drive be Sat morning from Castelrotto to Peschiera?
Thanks again for the help!!!
