Chainana - Castelrotto and Ortisei are only 20 mins. apart and they are both excellent choices - so really you can't go wrong with either.

What's your hotel budget?
For value-for-money I can recommend:

In CASTELROTTO -

Hotel Zum Wolf

In ORTISEI

Hotel Garni Snaltnerhof

Hotel Villa Park

For a complete list and details of hotels in Ortisei go to:

For Castelrotto:

Let me know if I can be of more help ...

High above these two towns is the glorious Alpe di Siusi/Seiser Alm. I suggest that you look into staying there...

We have stayed in Castelrotto about 1/2 dozen times and love it. IMO, the 2 towns arevery different with Ortesei being much larger. For some reason, we have never really warmed up to Ortisei-certainly doesn't mean it is a bad town. We just may have been in a bad mood when we were there. My vote would be for Castellrotto - very small and quaint.

As usual, Steve is right on. The Zum Wolf is the best value in the area in a village that is magical.
