Bologna Hotel Recommendation

Hello fodorites....anyone have a hotel reco for early October? We will probably be taking the train for day trips but don't mind hopping a cab or walking to the station. Would like to stay in centro storico area I think unless others have different opinion about that. We probably would be okay to spend about $300 a night. Generally we like old world charm but location is key I would say.

Many thanks.

My preference is the Internazionale. It's about a :06 walk from the train station and :10 walk to Piazza Maggiore. Nice rooms, great breakfast, very central.

You certainly don't need to spend $300/night to get a nice place if you don't want to.

We enjoyed this hotel which is very near Piazza Maggiore, but I'm not sure about current rates.

We loved the Art Hotel Orologio. It was very well located, the staff was pleasant and the breakfast was delicious.

Two blocks from the central station, Allegroitalia Espresso Bologna is a modern, budget-oriented hotel with a restaurant and an amiable staff. In October you could pay about $110 US. Central bus station is across the road beside a pleasant park. You want to be on this side of the massive railroad tracks for access to the station.
