Don't lament! Today we already have the third really fine spring day of this year: sun, nothing but sun and not the slightest cloud since early morning (at least in the South Western part of Switzerland)

I'm in Geneva ( that's S.W. ) but I can see thin clouds in large part of the sky already. Still the sky is pretty blue - ish. True early morning, I had a clear view of the chain of Mont Blanc, around 6h00. Then I saw absolutely no cloud. Unfortunately Swiss Forcast says it won't last long. Really the worst month of May I can remember since years.

It seems that once again, things in Switzerland are completely different from one canton to the other.

We have come up with a rough plan for the trip. Please go through and share your thoughts whether it is practical.
We are aware that everything depends on weather and the back-up plan is to visit musuems or other covered areas.

Oct 6 - Reach Zurich by 1 PM
Oct 7 - Zurich.
Oct 8 - Morning train to Lucerne. If possible Trip to Engelberg and Mt Titlis.
Oct 9 - Morning train to Lauterbrunnen
Oct 10 - Lauterbrunnen - Visit Trummelbach fall, Murren and Jungfrau
Oct 11 - Lauterbrunnen - Day trip to Thun and Interlaken
Oct 12 - Lauterbrunnen - Day trip to Wengen and Grindelwald
Oct 13 - Morning train to Geneva. Golden pass train if possible.
Oct 14 - Morning train to Dijon
Oct 15 - Dijon
Oct 16 - morning train to Paris
Oct 17 - Paris
Oct 18 - Paris
Oct 19 - Paris
Oct 20 - Return flight at 1 PM

Thanks in advance,
Indu

Completely ? Not at all. It's the same tendency, started great early this morning but expect clounds in the afternoon and, in the evening, perhaps even some rain as a friend of mine living in la Tour de Peilz ( Vaud Canton next to Montreux) wrote.

Actually, it's covered in the Geneva area and along the Jura chain, but sunny around Montreux - Aigle - Evian; the Dents du Midi are in the sun too.

May be you don't know the Swiss locution that everything is completely different from one canton to the other. It's true for taxes, police, opening hours of restaurants, scholarships, social security, hospitals, road traffic regulations, road construction, local dialects, etc. etc
....but of course not for the weather (except for Canton Valais/Wallis, where the weather is always bettet than elsewhere).

To the OP, don't lock yourself in to going to Jungfraujoch on a specific day, especially in October. Only go if it is clear at the top. TVs in Interlaken and other points show the current conditions at the top.

Also you're cutting Lucerne and all its wonderful options short. Whereas Zurich is okay but a big city, not what you say you want to see. (Ditto Geneva). Skip Zurich, take the train from the Zurich airport to Lucerne.

Necker, but I was only talking about the weather as it was the topic ....

Don't know why you say that because as it has turned out, it remained mostly sunny all day here in Geneva as well. Maybe just your imagination.

It was a lovely day in Basel and Zurich too, but three sunny days do not make for a wonderful spring. And that's it for the week. Clouds and maybe a thunderstorm tomorrow and then rain for the next few days after that. Apparently the 31st will be really wet.

Parce qu'il en a été ainsi hier soir. Mais cessons cette discussion stérile qui n'interesse absolument PERSONNE!
