You are all right - and I knew it would be a difficult question.
I should say that we are young and active, and want to see as much as possible - though we do like more authentic and less touristy, and price is always a major factor. That being said, you can probably twist my arm to stay in a more touristy area like Champs d'Elysees, or a quieter one just as easily...clearly I needed help and opinions!
I made a mistake with the dates and the Hotel Andrea is not available when we will be there - does anyone have any more suggestions for hotels under 100 Euros?
risab, do you have the Web site or contact info for the Hotel Jeanne d'Arc in the Marais? I only found it through another Web site.
Thanks,
Susan

SusanAlexandra, I think you should read up on which area interests you and your husband most. As far as I can tell we here have our favorite areas and each one seems good in its own way. But you and your husband are the ones who will be visiting Paris.

My feeling is that it's not always super-easy to find a nice hotel in a good location for 2 at 100 euros. Since there are a lot of good neighborhoods, I'd focus on trying to find a hotel that has had good feedback, is priced in your range, AND has availability.
If you find a place like that in one of the main arrondisments people have highlighted here (and it's somewhat close to a metro station), then I think you'll do fine.

I'm heading to Paris for the umpteenth time in November again and I've stayed at a number of different properties from quaint to deluxe. Here's one that I've used several times at Place de la Republique which is just a shade over your rate at 114 Euros/night on a pre-pay basis:

Before you double over and puke because it's a Holiday Inn, remember that like many franchise properties in Europe, it is nothing like its U.S. counterparts. You'll get a nice, decently-sized room in a unique, historic building with excellent metro connections in a neighborhood that isn't constantly crawling with tourists (paying tourist prices for things.) It's easy to book and at 114/night, it's a truly great value in Paris.

Travelnut has done my work for me posting the URL'S of the France Invalides and the Madeleine-Opera. Both are lovely hotels. I just loved the area of the Madeleine-Opera, it might be my favourite so far, and I've stayed in various parts of town. It's beautiful and elegant and then quiet at night, just perfect, with very good metro options and so convenient to the Roissy bus from and to the airport - it's in walking distance to the bus station close by Place de l'Opéra. I might be going back to Paris next April and will try to stay in the neighbourhood once more.
