Bernini Palace renovation. What would you do?

We wil be in Florence March 17-22 and had booked a room at the Bernini Palace. I wanted to book a really special place as this is my husband's first trip to Florence. I booked it thru Expedia and got a fairly decent rate. Anyway, I got a notice from Bernini management that they are starting renovations on the outside Feb 2-April 30 and the windows will be opaque covered by tarpaulin so the windows can only be partially opened. Looks like no view for us!

What would you do? I'm really disappointed.

I don't stay in hotels that are under renovation. Period. It's probably why you got a "fairly decent rate" through Expedia.

What was the rate you were hoping to duplicate?

Agree - find something else. Again, what's the budget?

I think there is a definite possibility that there will be significant work done on the hotel that may disturb your visit in other ways.

Agree that you should find another hotel.

Renovations on the exterior may include acid cleaning. We arrived at a hotel to find that situarion and left. The smell was overpowering.

If I couldn't see Venice through the windows of my room, I'd find an alternative. Nothing will make up for the noise, aromas and lack of natural light and if you want to stay in bed in the morning a little, what time do they start work?

I'ts a no-no!
