Berlin hotel
Hello!
I was wondering if someone can tell me what is the best area to stay in Berlin. I have found a lot of budget hotels in the Charlottenburg area, but i am not sure whether that is close to the main attractions in Berlin. I will be leaving from Berlin to Greece from the Berlin Schoenefeld airport, but i figure i could just take the train from wherever my hotel is at. Please help.
Thank you

Charlottenburg is littler farther from the center of Berlin than some other areas. However, with the efficient metro system you would be able to get to the center of the city within a reasonable time frame. And yes, getting to Schonenfeld is very easy, too.

As traveller 1959 already mentioned, Charlottenburg is a nice expensive area to live in, but from the tourist standpoint, you may find the Mitte area to be a lot better for sightseeing. If you are looking for budget accomodations, Friedrichschain area actually has nicer but cheaper apartments/hotels to stay in than Charlottenburg. Many cheap hotels in Charlottenburg are really dumpy IMHO. The Mitte & Friedrichschain is also closer to the artistic Prenzlauerberg and funky Kreuzberg areas.
