Been watching the London weather...

...for about a month. We're going in two weeks. Looks like it's been a chilly summer, thus far. Haven't seen a day over 20 or so. Silly me, insisting on a hotel with A/C. Oh well, it's been 36+ here in DC for a week, so it'll be a welcome respite. And I know things can change quickly in England.

Weather was pretty good last week and I know that it hit 20+ a few days. Yesterday was grim - I even turned the heating on when I got home. Today is sunny but I still have a jumper over my shoulders - pack layers!!!

Yes, layering is good. You really can't predict summer weather in London. Summer of '76, summer of '83 and summer of '95 -- you would have thought you'd flown into Phoenix, Arizona. But the days are long, and it's quite nice.

Which weather report have you been watching? Just that the weeks of the 17th and the 24th June were warm and sunny pretty much every day (the first week with temps over 25, which is *plenty* hot enough for London), with high humidity at night. It's only the last few days which have been cool and wet, although today was a big improvement. There are temperatures predicted in the low 20's for the weekend, but by tomorrow that could easily change to a cold 16 or a humid 26. You can never *ever* predict a week ahead though, so as others have said, bring plenty of layers.
I've just had a link set to the USA Today five-day forecast. I'm glad to hear of some nicer weather. I AM bringing my wife, who is my good luck weather charm. Could someone please order me 22 and sunny? LOL. Thanks.

I was in London late June/early July about 3 years ago, where the temp did get to 23-24...and not humid! It was glorious... Was also there during that summer of '95 heatwave...and yeah that was pretty bad in London and Paris, 'specially with an unairconditioned room, did make for glorious weather in Ireland though...

OK, speaking of sudden temperature changes..... the BBC site at http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/5day.shtml?world=8&links is forecasting a sunny 26c for London on Tuesday.

ajs - try the bbc site instead, I find some of the other weather sites rarely get it right (www.weather.com in particular are crap at forecasting London weather)
