Bayern Ticket
Can you purchase the Bayern ticket at the station, or do you have to purchase in advance?
I will be looking to do a round trip from Munich to Fussen (Neuschwanstein Castle) and then Munich to Salzburg and the Bayern ticket is quite cheaper.
I am going in November so I figure it will be off season and would prefer to book at time of travel not to be stuck with travel times I cannot change.
Any advice?

Don't forget that it's only good after 9 am (on weekdays), and that it's only good on regional trains:
<<Bayern-Ticket
The ticket allows up to 5 adults traveling together to use unlimited all regional trains in Bavaria for one day. It is valid on all regional trains in 2nd class.
Regional trains are all trains with the designating letters RB, RE, IRE, ALX, S-Bahn, BOB (Bayerische Oberlandbahn), M (Meridian). Note: Use of high-speed and long-distance trains with the designating letters IC, EC, ICE, D, RJ, TGV and night trains (designating letters CNL, EN) is not allowed.
Additionally the ticket allows the use of the underground trains (U-Bahn), suburban trains (S-Bahn), trams and public buses in Munich and other Bavarian cities and of almost all public regional bus services beyond Munich (RVO, SEV).
The ticket covers also travels to following destinations outside Bavaria: Salzburg, Kufstein, Reutte, Ulm and return.
The ticket is valid weekdays Mon - Fri from 9 a.m. to 3 a.m. the following day (18 hours)
Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays from midnight to 3 a.m. the following day (27 hours).>>
It's a pretty good deal.

No to purchasing in advance -in case your plans change non-refundable perhaps -use machines lime melanq8 says in any DB (German Railways) station - regional trains are slower to Salzburg than faster trains by perhaps 45 minutes but for the price (even deepest discounted faster train fares 29 e each way and usually much more!) - for info on German trains and European trains (in case you are traveling on them more) in general (like first v 2nd class and the Bayern Ticket does I believe come in first class too -regional trains can be very crowded at time - no seat reservations even possible - 1st class rarely full but not all regional trains have first class so check www.bahn.de/en about that)- www.seat61.com; www.budgeteuropetravel.com and www.ricksteves.com.

I got it here:
http://www.munich-touristinfo.de/Bavaria-Ticket.htm
However, I've just checked the DBB site and they do indeed offer a First Class Bayern Ticket, my mistake.
I also checked the price for four adults, as I will be travelling to Germany with a group of four in December. It's 43 Euro for second class and 93 Euro for First class for a group of four.
I think we'll stick to second class, although I'll be sure to let the group know there is a first class option as well.
I never travel first class in Germany or Switzerland, other than our first trip eons ago. It just doesn't seem worth the money to me, although I can see why it might to others.
Enjoy your trip Gills.
