We stayed in Bacharach a couple of years ago. We really enjoyed the town. We stayed at the Rhein Hotel, which I can highly recommend. Clean rooms, great location, nice restaurant and friendly owners.

We stayed at the Pension Winzerhaus last month for 3 nights; reasonably priced, good breakfast. Bacharach is a good base fro the Rhein.

AndreiaBrazil, there is a great Italian/Pizza restaurant around the corner from the Rhein Hotel close to the Posthof on Oberstrasse. Don't remember the name but it is quite good. Of course, the food at the Rhein Hotel is also very good. We had the Jaegerschnitzel and it was yummy.

Pension Lettie, the Im Malerwinkl and the Kranenturn would be good choices. Here's a web link to some info Rick Steves has in his book on these accommodations and others in Bacharach:
