Barcelona with my 15 year old Grandson
My Grandson is studying Spanish in high school and I would like to take him on his 1st. trip to Europe so thought Barcelona would be a great place to go. I am a 66 year old Grandma but very healthy and active so would like some ideas of things we would both like. My 1st. consideration is him. We would be going for 4 days the end of May 2017. Any ideas??

Hard to say without knowing his particular interests -- I suspect he'll like just walking around the older quarters with the lively streets and markets. There are some great art museums, the Catalonian and Joan Miro are kind of up on this hill which you can get to by funicular or Turibus (or regular bus, I suppose). That's an interesting excursion.
The maritime museum is very good down near the sea, also.
You could go up to the monastery for a day, many people like that. Now only is the monastery interesting (and there is a superb fine arts museum up there, also, smaller), but the train and cable car ride up there is fun. This is very good info on how to get there

Of course the city is known for architect Gaudi's works, definitely visit Sagrada Familia cathedral for that and if he likes seeing intgeresting houses and architecture, maybe visit one other Gaudi building like the Pedrera or Casa Battlo.

Your grandson is fortunate to have such a generous grandparent!
I would strongly encourage you to find out what would he would most like to see and do. With 4 days, you could have a nice visit to Barcelona or Madrid (perhaps with a side trip to Toledo) or Seville (with a side trip to Cordoba) or....
