mikster, I believe you’re looking at an outdated page which still lists 3 options, including the option to show only that one (from the US, Canada and Japan) is vaccinated. Those requirements expired on Aug. 30.

The current requirements now say that if you’re coming from the US, Canada or Japan, everyone must have a test (PCR or antigen) no later than 72 hours prior to ARRIVAL. Don’t forget the time difference!

And, if you are vaccinated, you will need to show your CDC card. If you are not vaccinated, you will need to quarantine for 5 days, even with a negative test.

I’ll admit, the airport/plane stressed me out. More crowded than I imagined. Not much distancing on lines but gate area was ok. Wore good N95 mask most of the time.
Cadiz is so nice, go to the market. I flew this week and put thieves oil drops in my mask. I ordered mint essential oil but never arrived. It did make having a mask on for that long fine. Have a great trip.

We are vaccinated and boostered and until both the US and the EU get their acts together on this you can forget any "big spenders" dollars coming into the EU from me.

I think restrictions are good as each country is worried about its people. This pandemic has affected each one of us very badly, the ones who have lost their near and dear ones are in such a state that they cannot let anyone in their family members travel or go without safety anywhere.
Also, restrictions will allow people to think before going anywhere and will also make them follow all the rules which invariably leads to less covid cases.

If you look at the nr of cases on www.ourworldindata.com the figures for most EU countries are not that far apart. The US scores badly on all aspects.
I'm getting a bit tired of Americans telling us that financial ruin awaits us poor Europeans if we do not let in the big spenders from the US.
Why is the US not letting fully vaccinated EU citizens visit?

what Americans are telling you this? I agree with you that it should be reciprocal. It just does not seem to me that Americans are telling the EU about financial ruin. Who exactly are you referring to? Not being snarky, genuinely curious.

'Although they are a minority of tourists in Europe, Americans are the biggest spenders'
'you can forget any "big spenders" dollars coming into the EU from me.'

And comments on other threads about the importance of US travelers to the EU.
Apparently the US does not care for European visitors at all. I know people with property in the US, who cannot even visit.

Most of the posters here are Americans who love to travel. I know they don't agree with the American travel ban for EU visitors.
The EU would be justified in reciprocating.

Got it, you are talking about a couple of people in the forums. I thought it was government or media you were referring too. I agree, I am not sure why they are taking so long to allow EU visitors to the US. Tourists spend money on both ends.

We still plan on coming in November. I am following the rules and we have been double vaccinated and will have a booster, flu and already had pneumonia 23 vaccines. We are renting apartments except for two nights using our vouchers in Paris. We can eat in or do take out. We feel that Europe is safer than our state of Florida. I know several on forums that have been to the US from Europe to visit family. Maybe they are dual citizens. One has chosen not to visit as she feels it is safer to stay in France. Florida is a mess and Disney is full so they would be taking the variant back to Europe.

I was so saddened to see a couple of negative remarks here, because we all usually are so good to each other.

99% of the people on these forums love to travel, and want to travel for all the right reasons - new knowledge, new experiences, making new friends, learning about new cultures, etc. I leave for Rome/Florence TWO weeks from this Friday and I cannot wait. I certainly will be bringing my "big spender" bucks (LOL - I'm a federal employee) because I genuinely love Europe and want to do whatever I can to contribute to the economy.I"m fully vaccinated, I'm getting my flu shot and booster this week. Even in my own state of MD I wear an N95 inside - and even outside when there are people around. I'm ready to go!

As of tomorrow, the Swiss Federal Council requires all people (over age 12) who enter indoor restaurants, indoor bars, dining cars on trains, and a few other venues to present a Swiss COVID Certificate that has a scannable QR code.

The online application process is geared towards residents; it's not yet clear how tourists obtain the certificate, but hopefully this will be addressed in the upcoming days.

We have just over two weeks before we head to Switzerland, but I don't think I'm going to believe it until I'm actually on the ground in Zurich. Normally, I'd be excited and getting ready to pack, but I'm not convinced it will happen.

Could not agree more! Reciprocity, please!!

Re: big spenders, I think it's the minority, but I cringe when I hear "our tourist dollars" thrown around.

<<I genuinely love Europe and want to do whatever I can to contribute to the economy.>>

Exactly. I think most of us (posting here, wanting to travel) are happy to contribute to the European economies, particularly any that have had a hard time of it, and have empathy for those who earn their living in the industry during the pandemic economic desert.

Finger crossed that we will be able to make our (tested and vaccinated) way to Italy 2 weeks from tomorrow!
