Hi Vicki, this site has a few insulting wiseguys who prowl the site, don't take it personally. Just do a Google search and you will find a variety of personal reviews of the Aviatic Hotel. Try to pay extra for a larger room and I suspect you will be quite satisfied. The hotel is well situated in an active, touristy part of the left bank. If this your first visit to Paris you won't spend much time there anyway...it is a *** which means all the basic amenities are supplied and is reported to have been remodeled recently. JP

Haven't stayed there in about 5 years but when we did it was OK, nothing to rave about but perfectly adequate. Perhaps we didn't have one of the larger rooms - ours was quite close quarters for two, even by Paris standards. The staff was very affable and helpful, and the location was OK. We booked there becasue it was during a salon and it was the only room the agent could find. You could do worse. The subway stop is about a five minute walk.

Here is the hotel's website so you can take a look at the rooms:

The nearest metro stop is Falguiere, about 300 meters from the hotel.

I have stayed at the Aviatic twice, and really like this hotel. The first time I stayed for 10 days in a superior room - very pretty and comfortable, with nice bath. I hated to leave! The second time, for a shorter stay, I had a standard room, which was small but comfortable, and quiet. There was a little refrigerator in room, which was handy, and a little grocer next door, where I stocked up on drinks, fruit, etc.
The hotel is walking distance to Gare Montparnasse, which is convenient (Air France Bus to CDG). It is actually close to 3 different metro stops. Also, plenty of restaurants, some of the famous cafes nearby. It's an easy walk up Rue Vaugirard to the Luxembourg Gardens. I think this location is much less touristy, and more of a local Parisien neighborhood, which I like. It's actually in St. Germain de Pres, but right on the edge of Montparnasse. The staff are very nice and helpful. Also, there were mostly Europeans staying there when I was there, not full of Americans (not that I dislike Americans, since I'm one!)- but I like not being surrounded by them when I'm in France. In all, I would certainly recommend this hotel - especially the superior room.
