AVE Club lounge - Madrid and Sevilla
What amenities are available in the AVE club lounges?
Are they similar to the airline club rooms at the airport which often have showers or is it more of just a nice waiting room?

This is for a two hour train ride. What do you need that you can't do before or after the ride?
On the train they serve a meal in the high-priced seats.
All are very comfortable and quiet. The ride starts on time and ends on time and you're there.
Unless you normally fly business or first class on a one hour flight, I wouldn't spend the extra money.

it is a very comfortable waiting area with free snacks, refreshments, t.v. etc.
i doubt they have showers.
i have used the other vip lounges for other trains in other cities and i never saw any showers in spain at train station.
for the difference in price, if going at meal time, first class is certainly worth the xtra money on other routes (vlc-barcelona/madrid). and if you drink alcohol, it is also free. champagne.. cognac, a very good deal, plus xtra room in car.

lincasonova, Thank you for the response to my question.
Myer-the issue is not should I take tourist, club or preferante - I have no choice so I might as well enjoy it. I did not make my Semana Santa train reservations until this week (lesson learned!). The only train available Madrid-Sevilla near the times I needed only had preferante seating. Returning Easter Sunday the only seats available are club. I've taken the AVE on a half dozen previous occasions tourist class so I'll have a chance to experience all of the classes of travel! I'll have a couple of hours in Madrid after a 16 hour transatlantic flight and it would be wonderful to have the opportunity to freshen up a bit.
cruiseluv-I haven't been on here much at all since last summer. In fact I haven't even put my photos from the fall (Galicia and Asturias) trip in an album! I've been traveling for work about 70% of the time. I doubt I'll be writing up a trip report but will be happy to help people out and share when they are planning their trips.

CathyM,
No offense intended. Now I understand.
We were there at the end of May and were surprised how we really didn't wait for anything.
We reserved AVE on a Monday for Tue at 11AM and got the last car second to last row. If not the next train had room.

I ended up spending 4 nights in A Coruna and loved it! I stayed at the Hotel Riazor and had a room overlooking the beach. This town was so much fun and the people were so friendly. When I tell people about the incredible pulpo they just don't believe me! I did a daytrip to Betanzos and also to Camarinas. I also visited Lugo on the way to A Coruna. Absolutely loved Galicia and Asturias totally drew me in too. I'll try to post an outline at least of my trip and the hotels when I return from Spain - I leave tomorrow for a week in Andalucia (Cadiz, Sevilla and Arcos) over Semana Santa!
