"AUTOEUROPE" VIRUS ALERT
I remember reading a post recently that AUTOEUROPE's website was affiliated with a virus.
yup...just went to their website and a few minutes later received an e-mail which my NORTON anti-virus software quarantined for virus. "W32.Klinge"

Sadly, is too late of a warning for my e-mail. Its showed up this morning. The way this one shows is it takes over your e-mail address book and send an e-mail message with some stupid title. Please be forewarned some people on this forum already contacted me about getting a cryptic message from my e-mail address.

I don't know if this is relevant, but I got a message returned to me, purporting to show that he had received a virus (thwarted) from ME. Not possible with web-based e-mail; there is no address book, and nothing resides on my computer. Couldn't send one if I tried; can't catch one either.
I didn't realize that the virus was that widespread. My computer got infected last week by a virus sent from a Rome hotel. It then used my address book to e-mail other people. Strange thing is, the e-mails sent to people in my address book were not from me but from other people in my address book. I immediately updated my Norton but not until the virus had infected several programs. It's such a hassle!

I asked my computer tech consultant about this recently because I had always thought you had to download a file to get one, also -- he said it used to be that way but now there are some viruses that will infect your computer just within the text of the email without downloading a file. If you know the person and would have opened the mail anyway, there is no prevention. I personally have never gotten one and I have Outlook because I don't do that preview option and I don't open email from people I don't know or that has a suspicious subject line.

I think it's the Preview thing that does it, not having Outlook per se (although I know some viruses are written to target MS code), but it's the same thing as opening an email. I'm the only person in my office who hasn't gotten one and I'm about the only one with Outlook -- the rest have Eudora and they've gotten them because they aren't as cautious as I am.
