Autoeurope quote question
Autoeurope quoted me a price of $322.18, plus $2.20 a day in fees and a $37 pick up fee, picking up in London in the Kensigton area. We would be getting a midsize automatic. We will have the car from June 30th-3rd to explore the Cotswolds. Is this a good rate, or could I do better? I have no idea what rates are like abroad.
BTW, the rates for Ireland were not in as of yet, but irish-car-rental.com quoted my a price of $243.32 for an autmatic sedan for eight days. I think that is pretty good. It seems bizarre that eight days in Ireland is cheaper than 4 days in England!

We just returned from the UK last night. In England we rented from Woods (picked up at the Holiday Inn at Heathrow) and in Dublin we rented from Hertz, via 1-2Ireland.com (picked up at Dublin Int'l airport). Both gave better rates than any other companies, including AutoEurope.

Mel,
1-2Ireland.com does not come up . . . is that the exact website?
Did you rent automatic or manual? The price difference on Woods was about $100. My hubby will be driving, and he can drive a manual, but he is not sure about shifting on the left.

Try Nova (http://www.novarentacar.com). When I was looking for a car to rent in Provence this passed summer, Nova gave a better rate than Autoeurope (or any other place I tried). Both companies are brokers. The end vendor for our Nova contract was Europcar.

I checked an e-mail reply and it was from
[email protected].
She was very responsive (even when I made a last minute change by wanting to return the car a day earlier than expected--she took care of it immediately).
The car was an automatic. It was our first time driving in the UK, so we didn't want to add the burden of shifting to the situation. My husband had NO problem, by the way. You'll be fine!
