Kismetchimera,
I don't believe there's any "membership" required or even available at AutoEurope. Are you sure that's indeed the company you're dealing with?
Re: cheap one way flight from Paris to Rome, there will most probably be service by Virgin Express on this route by September, but from Orly, not CDG. Check out this thread:

I will update it when additional info is available.
Until then, your only option is Air France/Alitalia and it will cost you a LOT! That said, you should try and price a cheap roundtrip fare (include a Saturday night in your fictitious "stay") - you can always throw out the return leg. I would wait another 1-2 months for the new services from Orly to start though - you still have plenty of time before your trip.
Hope this helps,
Andre

Andre, thank you very much for the info, I realized that one way ticket is not a good bargain after all..I cant believe how much the planes fares cost lately!!!I was supposed to go in June, but my little niece has changed her mind about coming in Europe, therefore I must cancel all my reservations for June, anyway i prefer to travel in september, better weather and less crowd.Ciao..

Kismet,
Virgin Express offers cheap one way fares, so that would make a huge difference. As an example, Brussels-Rome is UNDER 50 EUR INCLUDING TAXES!
Can't guarantee 100% that they will have service to Rome by September, but think your chances are 80% at least. If worst comes to worst, you could take the train from Paris to Brussels airport and fly from there.
September is indeed a great month to travel.
Hope this helps,
Andre

I purchased my R/T Chicago - Rome tickets from auoteurope ($553 in late Aug/Sept) and have since confirmed w/ American Airlines on the reservations. you do not have to be a member. I found the deal on Travelzoo.com. Hope that helps.

Kismet - Let's indeed hope that Virgin Express will have service from Paris to Rome by the time you need to book your flight. But, as Andre says, you can take the train to Brussels and fly to Rome from there. Virgin Express flys from Brussels International to Rome (Fiumicino). Ryanair flys from Brussels (Charleroi) to Rome (Ciampino). I'm assuming--but someone more knowledgable than I will need to confirm it--that Charleroi is harder to get to from the train station than is Brussels International. By the way, how are getting back to Paris from Rome before flying home?
