August Dordogne?
Okay, mes amis, are we mad to think of going in August? We've been before, but never in August -- we've seen several of the prehistoric caves and loved Sarlat. This time we would like to stay somewhere small, such as Les Eyzies, but wonder a) if it's terribly hot and b) terribly crowded.... will be visiting family near Toulouse and then think of driving. Are the roads impossible with traffic? Will be grateful for any thoughts. Merci!

The list on the left shows that there was a reply to this thread at 8:30 a.m. but nothing is in here when I open the thread. I want to see what happens when I post this, though I have nothing to contribute. (I was there in late Sept.)

My feeling is that August will be very crowded. Domme and La Roque Gageac are already very crowded in the first half of July according to my experience. September would be a better time to visit. But if the family is taking its annual August vacation neat Toulouse, you do not have much of a choice.
