Agree with the advice to change your PIN if you can and you're worried about it.
Otherwise, find out when your bank does its "overnight processing" and note the time difference. Often ATM transactions are rejected because folks are attempting to make a withdrawal in Europe ("your bank did not approve this transaction" or something like that) when it's the middle of the night at "home" and the bank is off line for a few hours.
This happened to me on our first trip to Paris. I thought it was the PIN that started with zero (suggested by a fellow traveler). But, when I phoned the bank, they asked when I tried the card. Sure enough, I was going from ATM to ATM in Paris between 9-11AM, one day, then the next, just when "overnight processing" was taking place.

Bank of America says my ATM card is ok to use with PIN # starting with 0, as long as the machine is linked by STAR, PLUS, Interlink etc(whatever it says on the back of your card, however CITI(my credit card) just told me today that you cannot use a PIN starting with 0 or 1.
