Only you can say if a sunset view is worth the money.
Different locations means they're not in the same area of the village but they have excellent views. Look at this map and you'll understand: http://www.santorini-hotels.info/san...ni-oia-map.htm
Marizan is in C-1. OOH and Lena's are in D-3. Aspa is in C-10.

In October the ship won't be busy, so if you are on a strict budget just buy an economy class ticket and find a place to sleep. Check out the tours on the bottom of this page to see the facilities on Prevelis: http://web.anek.gr/portal/page/porta...Fleet/Prevelis

Not sure if you have decided where to stay in Oia but here's my two cents worth. We stayed in Oia last year and had a caldera view. That view is there when you wake up and it's there all day whereas the sunset view is only a sunset view for about 30 mins of the day.
You can easily walk down to the end of Oia to view the sunset, in fact it seems to be a must-do in Oia these days. Don't leave it too late to walk down as there was a crush of people when we were there (will be quieter in October).
The other thing is sometimes it's cloudy so the sunset is a non-event. In that case you are much better off with a caldera view.

We stayed at Filotera Villas which was lovely, very central but not noisy at all and with lovely owners. I booked the smallest and cheapest cave house and it was fine, not poky at all and with a fabulous view out the front, from the window and the terrace.

"looks really old...." Looks are deceiving. What you see is the style of decor that is popular there. It's the traditional style of decor used by every low-budget accomodation you'll find there.
