Assisi hotels

Can anyone recommend an Assisi hotel/B&B/etc. that's under E 90 per night?
Thanks.

Try Hotel Umbra. We stayed there a few years ago-very nice and around that price if I remember correctly.

Will do. Has anyone stayed at Hotel Da Angelo in Assisi? How is it?

Back in 1999 I stayed at a convent b&b run by American nuns: Saint Anthony's Guest House. It was clean, safe, and the sisters were delightful. I don't know what their price would be now in euros, but back in the days of the lire it was a good value.

I should add that St Anthony's Guest House is, as you might figure, very austere. No phone, no tv (at least not in 1999). I had a single with bath, and it was a good sized room. Some of the doubles have balconies that look out over the valley. Good breakfast and they have a pretty garden. I didn't care about the simplicity, in fact, that's what I wanted. I loved it there.

In 2004 we stayed at the Albergo del Viaggiatore in Assisi, and while I can't remember the exact price, I know it was definitely under 90 euros. Very nice little hotel, and ours had a great view of a little piazza....I don't think they have a website but if you google the name some info should come up....

If you don't mind climbing some steps to get to the hotel, we stayed at the Fortezza. It's 52 Euro per room per night. Don't let the price scare you. I'm obsessive about clean, comfortable rooms and this place was wonderful. Our room had a patio. It couldn't have been better.

We stayed at the Fontebella in Assisi Last year great hotel with stunning views and very central. Can't remeber the price but don't think it was too expensive!

We stayed in 2003 or 2004--can't remember which, but it's inexpensive and in a very central location. The family also owns a trattoria in town serving good Umbrian food.

Sorry, I also meant to say that when we stayed at the Pallotta it was nice and clean, but a little on the barebones side. As our trip was brief, that was no problem. However, I saw on another post that you might be staying for six days (?); for that long of a stay you might look for something a bit more comfortable.

Hi Suki,

In Sept 2005 I stayed at Hotel Porto Novuo(SP?), just outside the town gate of the same name. 50E/nt for a double including a nice bkfst and parking. Room was very basic and shower tiny, but clean and thank goodness no church bells, just nice and quiet. I stayed there unexpectedly when I had to leave a 4* hotel in Gubbio where the church bells drove me out.

The owner recommended a fabulous restaurant too - Paradiso de la Terme, a genuine local, family run place with perfect service and wonderful food.

Buon viaggio!
