While it's true that the Easter Vigil, held on Saturday evening, is the main Easter service, the principal Sunday mass on Easter Day will be in most churches a joyous celebration, and not just a normal Sunday mass.

A priest in another European country (not Italy) told me that where he lives there is in practice intercommunion between all the Christian denominations. He also said that this is the kind of thing that should be changed from below, from the actions of the faithful. He is the priest who told me that a priest is not permitted to refuse communion to someone who presents himself at the altar. I later verified this for myself.
