Arriving in Shannon, sightseeing stops on way to adare?
Hi,
We are arriving in Shannon and staying in Adare the first night. What is there to see, other than Bunratty, on they way to Adare or around Adare? We want to take it easy that first day and get acclimated before we head to dingle the next day.
Thanks for the tips!

The drive from Shannon to Adare is short. So why not just spend the day in Adare and take it easy. There is plenty to see and it is a peaceful town. I am usually so tired from an overnight flight that I just like to get to my destination for the day and take my time seeing the sights. Then you will be well rested for your drive to dingle, don't forget to take the conner pass. Have fun on you trip,Ireland is great.

I've recently returned from Ireland and was most disappointed not to have toured Bunratty Castle. We arrived after the castle had closed - 4 pm!!! Even more disappointed when the castle and re-created village was later touted by locals! We stayed in Adare and, while it is a lovely little town, did not find that much to do. It is relaxing and peaceful and would be a good overnight stop. I agree with a previous posting - definitely drive the Conor Pass!!!

Some might disagree but a quick trip into Limerick to visit the Hunt Museum is well worth the effort. You could even check into your accommodation in Adare and drive into the city as it is very close. You could also see St. Marys church, very nice, and King John's castle all within a half-mile of each on the Shannon river, but right downtown. Enjoy yourselves in Ireland.

Thanks for the advice. This is my third time to IR but didn't know if I had missed some nice stops around Adare. We are going to do the Connor Pass.. it is a great drive. Thanks for the tips and I think we will just take it easy in Adare!
