We are departing for Paris tomorrow, and I just noticed that the 11th (Friday) is Armistice Day and a National Holiday. Will the museums and stores be closed? How about restaurants?

This question has been asked on here several times. No, it's not a major holiday, and everything is not going to be closed. Many museums will be open. Is everything closed where you live on Armistice Day? I don't think you should cancel your trip.

So sorry my question offended. I did not see any other questions concerning it. Did I say I was cancelling?? This is supposed to be a place to ask questions, even if they may seem dumb to you.

Armistice Day is a big holiday in France in spite of Christina's comments. When you lose as many soldiers as France did in WWI, you do tend to honor them. I have a photo of my wife standing in the middle of the Champs Elysee at Pl Clemeceau. It is about noon last year and there isn't an auto in sight looking to the Arc de Triumphe. Plenty of police though.

The Carnavalet museum, the Catacombes, the Cernuschi museum, the French History museum, the Crypt of Notre-Dame, the Doll museum, the Arts et Métiers museum are always closed on holidays.

There is also a great military parade down the Champs-Elysees on Armistice Day. And I do also think the French as well as the British consider it a fairly major holiday!
