April in Copenhagen

I've spent hours and hours here and on TripAdvisor looking at reviews of hotels. The overwhelming majority are from people who were travelling during the summer months, and I am wondering if their complaints about noise from the street and from adjacent clubs until 4 or 6 in the morning would extrapolate to the non-summer months. The Square Hotel and The Avenue sound like great places until I read about the noise. I'd like to hear from someone who has been there in April--is it more subdued during than during the summer?

April is the coolest month...

We've been there in early spring (late March), and there hasn't been much in the way of street life.

For one thing, it rains almost continuously in this season, plus it's chilly (40s-50s). The Tivoli Gardens don't open until late April for a reason (Christmas market aside).

We originally planned to travel to Holland, Belgium and Luxembourg over a 2 week period in June. Then I found out I was going to Copenhagen for a 2-day conference in April, with my airfare and 3 nights' hotel paid for, so we changed our plans. My DH is coming along and we're staying for a week. We're remodelling the kitchen with the rest of the vacation money
Ideally of course we'd go in the late spring or summer, but hey--this was too good to pass up. You never know about the weather, anyway. Stockholm in August showed us cold rainy days a few years ago. You can't stay home just 'cause it might rain.

No, not at all. The Danes thrive in it. Remember that their ancestors embarked in open boats (no "below-decks&quot and headed west across the Atlantic. Hardy breed, this lot!

I was in Copenhagen between Christmas through New Years year before last. Cold and snowy and not a lot of night life that I could see or hear. I had my window open every night and slept like a baby. I don't thing it starts to warm up until late May or so. I think they all come out for the short summer because they have to be craving warmer temps and sunlight and of course not getting dark until very late would encourage the "natives" to say out. You should be fine in April, and just take your umbrella. I really enjoyed Copenhagen.

A lot of Tourist-related businesses in Denmark don't start until April 1st at the earliest as well, make sure what ever attractions you're interested in seeing are going to be open when you're there.
