Apologies for a Common Question

I am sure that this question has been answered repeatedly here, but when I search using "Rome hotel shuttles," I get answers only from many years ago!

Can someone suggest a reliable shuttle/car service in Rome for an airport pick-up? I am traveling alone and would appreciate not having to hassle with a service that may or may not turn up.

Many thanks.

Ask your hotel to call a taxi for you, as we do when we go there.

It is nice to have your name waved around on a sign (and if that is not readily evident when you emerge from the Customs area, what then?) and for the driver to already know exactly where you are headed and perhaps to have a more luxurious car. If those are the big deciders then go with a service and the money involved.

I have never had any difficulties with cabs at FCO, and I have used them, a car service, and the Leonardo rail express. Perhaps it depends on one's mood.

For the hotel to arrange a pickup, the charge is 60 euros. Most car services charge 48. Anyone know about taxis?

We've used www.romeshuttlelimousine.com for private taxi service and were very satisfied. They charge 45 euro for pick-up FCO-Rome, but give a 5 euro discount if you also book a return drop-off Rome-FCO.

I've also used Romeshuttlelimousine. In certain situations, such as a hotel outside the Aurelian walls, and for two or three people, they can even cost less than a taxi.

As noted in my next comment, I want to go to my hotel. Not so strange that others had trouble, apparently.

UNCalum, there's indeed nothing strange about your question.

I can recommend http://www.romecabs.com/ Ive used them twice for airport transfers in Rome and I'm planning to use them again in Sept. Nice cars, very polite and reliable.

Have a great trip!

Last time we travelled from Rome airport to the city centre, we just purchased a shuttle bus ticket at the airport, near where you buy the train tickets. Same price as the train (14euro if I remember correctly). It was not a personalised service so had to wait for others to be dropped at their hotels but it was door to door. Don't remember the name of the company.
