Hi All,

We've just rented an apartment in Via Arco Di Ginnasi, close to the Largo di Torre Argentina in Rome for a visit in May.

It seems to pretty well located but if anyone can share any personal experiences of staying in this area it would be greatly appreciated.

My wife and I will be staying in an apartment half a kilometer from yours for a few weeks in May. People we know who rented our apartment last fall couldn't stop raving about the location. It's close to Campo di Fiori, Trastevere, and the Campidoglio, and the Largo di Torre Argentina is a major bus stop if you need to get to the Vatican or Termini.

In late February/early March we rented an apartment on Via della Reginella which is in the old ghetto area, off the Piazza Mattei (famous for the tortoise fountain), only a few blocks away from the street where your apartment is located. I cannot say I can remember specifically walking on Via Arco Di Ginnasi because we almost always walked on the street one block over and parallel to it, Via S. Nicola di Cesarini so that we could check out the Area Sacra dell'Argentina ruins. There is a cat sanctuary at one end and we always stopped to see how many cats we could count among the temples.

So I am not sure exactly what your street looks like or how much street noise you can expect. The Largo and Corso Vittorio Emanuele do have a lot of traffic.
I am sure that your apartment is very convenient to almost anything you will want to see in the central city. We loved the ghetto area and walking over the Isola Tiburina into Trastevere. You are also basically right on a great walk from the Area Sacra up via dei Cestari to the Piazza della Minerva (Bernini elephant obelisk in front of Santa Maria sopra Minerva) and then to the Pantheon/Piazza della Rotunda.
I picked up a book at the tourist office called the Streets of Rome which describes pretty much everything you will see along the Via dei Cestari and other streets in the area of the apartment.

I think you will love it! We are already trying to figure out how soon we can go back.
