Anyplace other than train staion to buy train tickets?
Want to make reservations and buy tickets for Eurostar from Rome to Venice. Won't be near Termini Station except the day of departure. Is there anyplace else you can buy train tickets in Rome? I have tried repeatedly to buy (or at least reserve) tickets at the Trenitalia stie, but you must register first and the registration process "has been suspended."

Any advice?

Sandy,
Be warned that although most travel agencies stay open until 7 or 7:30 p.m., they often stop selling train tickets at 6 or 6:30. I don't know why, they just do.

But I agree that this is the simplest way to get the tickets, and travel agents usually speak English.

When you get to your hotel in Rome, ask them to direct you to a nearby travel agency that sells train tickets. If you're going to Italy within next few months, best to purchase your rail tickets a couple days ahead of your intended departure --- Rome to Venice is a popular run, and if you plan to travel on weekends it can get fully booked. It may be possible, but I've yet to see anybody buy their tickets thru Trenitalia website. I think that 'suspension' has been in place for quite awhile.

Also, do be aware that in addition to purchasing a ticket on Eurostar, also need a seat reservation. If you're in Italy & buying @ travel agency a day or two ahead, then they'll do both. However if you opt for buying tickets in US via Euro Rail (Tracey's suggestion) then you'll need to then get your seat reservation once in Italy.
Sam,
I really don't recall. I've always had an AMEX card, but I don't remember if it was necessary for buying the tickets at the American Express office. Maybe someone else can answer this or maybe you could call a local American Express office to see if they know. Sorry.
