Not sure what you are looking for - someone to come to your place and cook for you or someone that you can go to them for a class? Not sure where you are staying, I was in Umbria and we hired a chef that came to the villa we stayed at and he did a cooking class with us. We had a 6 course meal, they brought all of the food and we supplied the wine. It was a great day and we had fun learning how to cook an Italian meal.

Here's the link, they offer a variety of services.

Yes adrienne, someone to come to the villa and perpare a meal. I had friends who did the cooking class but we were more interested in having someone come and prepare a great Italian dish!

Our experience is that your villa manager will have contacts which will include staff to come in and cook if you wish. The options will, of course, vary and can include your maintenance and household staff or specialized chefs who are working in the area. The thought that you could simply pull a chef out of a hat or via a recommendation here is a bit optimistic--if they travel, it is likely to cost you plenty. Stick with your agent's suggestion--it may not be gourmet but is likely to be generous and authentic.
