They emailed me a week ago and said because they had 17 people booked for the class, they asked me if I could reschedule, which I could not do. I figured because I booked with them two months ago, my reservation was safe. Little did I know!

They sent me an email this morning canceling my reservation. I'm very bummed. I added an extra night in Florence just for this class.

No money lost but I was looking forward to the experience. At least I had three weeks warning. Enough time to daydream up a Plan B.

What was I thinking - cooking while on vacation? Yuck!

What a disappointment . . . and frankly, taking a cooking class in Italy sounds very interesting to me.

Perhaps another could accommadate your schedule?

Tess -- thanks for the links, I'll check them out when I have a moment.

I'm going on this trip alone (no hubby, no kids) so I booked the cooking class for the chance of eating a good meal and drinking nice wine with new and interesting people.

And learning some new cooking tricks would have been fun, too.

You might want to try a meal with home foods - www.homefood.it. Others (and me too) have posted about this - it is where you have a meal in the home of a traditional local cook. It is fun and social and....you don't have to cook. I did it in Rome and really enjoyed it and would be totally comfortable doing it on my own again.

I'm the one that recommended the Good Tastes of Tuscany class on the above thread. We really didn't do any work at all. We were picked up in the morning, driven to the Villa Pandolfini, had a tiny tour of the villa, then fed yummy breakfast pastries and coffee.

Most of the cooking was done by the two chefs, but we each got to try our hands at the different techniques.

Then we were fed a huge lunch of all the dishes that had been cooked that day (as well as tasting along the way) and driven back to Florence.

I think we were back by about 2:30, which left time for a few sightseeing opportunities, or strolling and shopping.
